QUESTION 1 : TRANSLATION (80 marks)
Translate into French
Abou loved playing football and usually dreamt of becoming a professional footballer. His parents always
advised him not to neglect his studies even if he wanted to become a footballer. But he never took his studies
seriously because he thought all he needed was to be able to play well.
One day some experts from the National Football Academy came to their region and selected young
talented football players among whom was Abou. They had to participate in a competition that would enable the
authorities to choose players for the Junior National Team. Abou saw his selection as an opportunity to make his
dream come true.
At the end of the competition, Abou was among the best players .Unfortunately for him, there was a written
examination before the final selection. He failed that examination and was eliminated. If only he had listened to his
parents, things would have been different.
QUESTION 2; ESSAY (80 marks)
Using a tense suitable to your chosen topic, write an essay in French, of at least 140 and not more than 150 words,
(not counting figures, words in brackets, abbreviations and names of people or places) on ONE of the following
topics.
Credit will be given for the correct use of a variety of expressions, verbs, vocabulary and idioms.
If you choose topic (b), your name must be Tume and your address GHS Nyakom.
Use of a different name and /or address will be seriously penalised. This holds true for details that can help reveal
your true identity, school and/or family. The usual introduction to the letter must not be more than 20 words.
If you choose topic (c), your essay must be based on the picture.
Off–topic material will earn no marks.
