Factors affecting the rate of Transpiration in plants
Environmental factors
Light intensity
High light intensity increase the temperature of cells of leafs .when it absorbs it this enables more water molecules to change to vapor hence increasing in transportation . Increase in light Intensity also increase the size of the stomata giving way to diffuse out
wind :when there is no wind rate of transpiration decrease the plant become saturated with water vapor .when this happen water vapor from the leaf will not diffuse outward hence stopping transpiration
- Humidity : when the atmosphere is fully saturated with water vapor there is no more possibility for more water vapor to moving to it under such condition therefore the plant can not give out water vapor out.
Amount of water present In the soil : when the amount of soil water is low the plant absorbed low water there by leading to a low amount of water to be sent by the plant
Temperature : A high temperature increase the capacity of air for water vapor hence transpiration increase .
Non Environmental
Stomata :
85% of transpiration takes place in the stomata , most stomata are found in the lower epidemise , so the fewer stomata on the leafs of the plant the lower the transpiration rate
