SECTION A: AFRICA: 1800- 1945

 

  1. Assess the role of the British Royal Navy in the fight for the abolition of the West African Slave Trade during the 19th  century

SECTION B: 1945 TO THE PRESENT

  1. Examine the factors and assess the consequences of the rise of African nationalism after the second World War
  2. Assess the impact of the “Loi -Cadre” of 1956 or the decentralization process in French West Africa between 1956 and 1990
  3. With specific examples from Nigeria, examine the causes and effect of military intervention in African politics since independence
  4. Account for the declining significance of Apatheia in South Africa after 1990 and discuss the circumstances under which the ANC was legalized
  5. Carefully examine the causes of the civil war in either Liberia or Rwanda and analyses the socio-political consequences.

Section c: revolution and diplomacy 1700-1919

 

  1. Why was the birth of the prince of Wales instrumental causing the English Revolution of 16887?
  2. To what extend were British Economic policies in North America between 1763 responsible for the outbreak of the American revolution?
  3. How far and with what consequences did the Congress system become an instrument for collective suppression of internal revolution of Europe.
  4. Examine the view that internationally anarchy and Anglo-German militarism were responsible for the outbreak of the first World War
  5. “The views of the ‘Big Three’ at Versailles in 1919 made decision -making very difficult”. Discuss.
