The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) is a Government Institution which was established by the Parliamentary Act No. 21 of 1973. Actually NECTA is responsible for the administration of all National Examinations in Tanzania. It includes many Examination types. In this article we shall provide more details about some of NECTA Examination types and as well as documents where necessary.

NECTA Examination Types
The Council offers the following Examinations.

Certificate of Secondary Education Examination(CSEE)
This is an achievement test for candidates who have completed four years of secondary education. The NECTA administers this examination at the first week of November every year. You can get more information about the exam details and format here.

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE)
This is for candidates who have completed two years of secondary education (advanced level) and have had three credits at CSEE level. The NECTA administers this examination on the first week of May every year. Equally click here for more information about the examination format.

Standard Four National Assessment (SFNA)
Each subject has an examination format, which describes the structure of the examination paper, and the content in which that particular examination covers. The details of subjects addressed are shown in individual examinations formats that can be accessed in the examination formats here.

Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)
This is a selection test which enables the government to select form one entrants for its schools. Students who get selected and those who are not, receive certificates. Form Two National Assessment

Grade A Teachers Certificate Examination (GATCE)

DSEE and DSE-SNE
Finally we have the DSEE and also DSE-SNE. The examination formats is available here DSEE for DSEE as well as DSE-SNE for the DSE-SNE.
In addition we also have the GATCCE which is another special certificate the NECTA offers. For more details visit Grade A Teacher Special Course Certificate. And the Qualifying Test examination which is for private candidates intending to sit for the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), but do not have Form II level secondary education.
