QUESTION 2. TRANSLATE INTO FRENH.
The world seems to have turned upside down. The impression is that moral decadence is fast gaining grounds as days go by. In our homes, streets and schools, the attitude of the young generation, who are inevitably the leaders of tomorrow, leaves much to be desired. Sociologists and psychologists have been trying to provide convincing explanations to this new phenomenon by comparing the past and the present.
In the past, boys and girls were very close to their parents; learning all the secrets of life from them, and in the most practical and pragmatic manner, domestic chores like cooking cleaning, farm work and all that was necessary to make a girl a good housewife. The boys, on their part, were interested in hunting, carpentry…
The most palpable explanation to this situation is that this generation of youths lived in the primitive age, without modern facilities like the television, CD and DVD players, mobile and fixed phones, modern transport…
On the contrary, what we see today looks like a contagious disease that attacks babies even before they are born. Disobedience to parents and elders, the lack of a sense of responsibility and initiative baffles everybody who was brought up the other way.
It is rather sad that in our schools today, many students and pupils consider their teachers as mere foster parents. They underestimate them, especially as many of these teachers can’t afford what the children’s parents buy for them – expensive dresses, electronic gadgets, recreational activities… Because of this, teachers are bound to put up with all sorts of provocative behavior.
