PART ONE: DIRECT LEVELLING
Instruments: Surveyors’ level and its accessories
Field work: (20 minutes per candidate); (1.5 marks)
With reference to the permanent bench marks N1 and N2, the relative heights of the temporal bench marks, 1, 2, 3 and 4 are required. Leveling is to be carried out from four stations as highlighted on the sketch in figure 1 which has also been established in the field.
PART TWO: OPEN THEODOLITE TRAVERSE
Instruments: Theodolite or total station and its accessories
Field work: (30 minutes per candidate); (1.5 marks)
The coordinates of two points 1 and 2, of a closed theodolite traverse are required. The coordinates of the reference points A and B will be given by the members of the jury.
Collect the raw data required to determine the coordinates of these points.
