Mrs Janet Museveni, the Minister of Education warn teachers to stop giving preregistration test to pupils before sitting for the PLE. With the release of PLE results, The UNEB observes an increase in the number of candidate who sat for the exams. Besides that she stated it would have been higher if preregistered exams were not administered to students.
Equally Mrs Museveni added that
“It is unfortunate that some teachers take it upon themselves to determine the destiny of pupils by giving preregistration tests. This practice must stop, because some pupils end up dropping out of school all together.”
Teachers should instead concentrate on effective teaching throughout the primary cycle. Doing that will ensure that all learners who reach primary seven are able and adept to write PLE.
She also outline that it’s unfortunate that there was increasing number of teachers involved in the circulation of fake examination papers. Describing it as “absurd”
She went on saying that
“It is sad to know that teachers and parents are leading students into examination Mal-practices. Some students failed because it led them into Mal-practice and they found different questions in the exams.”
It has been revealed by the UNEB that at least 61 persons has so far been arrested. The Executive Secretary of UNEB Dan N. Ondongo indicates results of 1,151 candidates are under investigations.
