One of the main factors that determine the size of man power of a project is the type of building to be
constructed. A company has undertaken the construction and equipping of a school. As a student on internship
in that company, you are requested to give answers to the following questions:
(a) Identify three types of building.
(b) State five members who are involved in the client’s team
(c) Give four factors that influence the choice of a site.
(d) State three responsibilities of the main contractor on a construction site.
(e) Identify five site installations that have to be carried out before the commencement of work. (5 marks)
A Client and the site technician have as duty to discuss about the structure, choose the type of materials to
be used for the construction. A building structure is to be constructed on a sloppy site, you are a building
construction student and you are asked to answer the following questions
(a) What kind of foundation is suitable for this building on a sloppy site?
(b) List four requirements of a good foundation.
(c) Name two possible settlements that can cause instability in a structure.
(d) Sketch a stepped foundation and indicate the following

3. The design of walls in a building has various functions to meet. Walls are essential components of a building.
