The Motherboard
The motherboard is the main circuit board of a computer that connects all hardware components together. It allows communication between hardware components.
Its components include:
- CPU Socket
- RAM Slots
- Expansion Slots
- Chipset
- Connectors (USB, SATA, etc.)
Power Supply, Battery and Fans
- Power Supply: Converts AC power from the wall outlet to DC power for the computer’s components, providing power to the computer.
- Battery: Provides power to portable devices when not plugged into a power source, allowing portability.
- Fans: A cooling system that keeps the computer’s components at a safe temperature, preventing overheating.
Buses
A bus is a communication pathway that allows data to be transmitted between components.
- Data Bus: Transfers data between components.
- Address Bus: Transfers memory addresses.
- Control Bus: Transfers control signals.
