What is the NSIF?
The National Social Insurance Fund is a state-run insurance scheme ensuring the social welfare of workers governed by the Cameroon Labour Code. It does not cover civil servants or independent traders.
Functions of the NSIF
Collects contributions from workers through their employers, makes allowance payments, and covers social risks such as invalidity, old age, and death.

How the NSIF Pays Benefits
- Physical cash: paid to beneficiaries at the insurance office.
- Bank transfer: the NSIF instructs the bank to transfer money to the beneficiary’s account.
- Social insurance order: an order issued directly to the beneficiary, who can collect the money at any post office within two months.
