Aim of Bismarck diplomacy
Isolating France and preventing a war of revenge.
This is the golden aim and the great focus of the Bismarckian diplomacy. Bismarck was bent on keeping France isolated and prevented from revenge on the Germans because of fear that was developed.
Firstly, he knew that the great France Napoleon III has been defeated and humiliated and her pride hampard and as such was mobilizing for a revenge.
Secondly, the seizure of Alsace and Lorraine made France hopeless and she was bent on getting back the 2 regions at all cost, hence war was inevitable
Bismarckian and Von molkel was afraid of a French possible was of revenge because they knew the war Alsace and Lorraine would be taken back to France.
Von Molkel as a Consequence questioned Bismarck in the following words “what our swords have won for half year, our swords must guard for half a century” this implies that A and L which were seized from France after the Franco-Prussians war which lasted 6 months must be kept and exploited by Germany for 50 years which is half a century. Thus, the allies and treaties which Bismarck signed were aimed at preventing a war of revenge from France so as to create a period to exploit A and L for 50 years. The Allies and treaties included the following;
