A software is a group of programs or instructions that tell the computer how to perform specific tasks.
A program is a set of instructions given to a computer system in order to solve a particular problem or accomplish a specific task.
Software can be divided into the following general types:
System software: is a software that controls and manages computer resources (hardware and operations) so that the computer user and applications can smoothly interact. Examples are Windows XP, 7, 8, 10, 11, macOS, Linux, Android OS.
Examples are:
- Operating Systems (OS): Windows XP, 7, 8, 10, 11, macOS, Linux, Android OS.
- Device Drivers: Printer drivers, graphics drivers
- Utilities: Disk formatting tools, antivirus software
- Firmware: Embedded software in hardware devices
