Computers consist of devices that require regular maintenance and cleaning to work at their best. Computer system maintenance is the process of monitoring, evaluating, modifying and correcting existing computer systems to make required or desirable improvements for effective functioning.
Types of System Maintenance
- Preventive: applied to a computer to anticipate future errors and technical problems that might obstruct effective functioning.
- Corrective: focuses on the diagnosis and repair of equipment when a technical problem has occurred.
- Adaptive: hardware components and program functions are changed to enable the computer system to satisfy the needs of the user, often prompted by rapid changes in technology or the organization.
