Types of Charts

  • Column charts: compare data across different categories.
  • Line charts: show trends over time.
  • Pie charts: show how different categories contribute to a whole.
  • Bar charts: compare data across different categories.
  • Area charts: show cumulative totals over time.
  • Scatter charts: show the relationship between two variables.
  • Bubble charts: show the relationship between three variables.
  • Histograms: show the distribution of data.

Creating a Chart

  1. Select the data you want to chart.
  2. Choose the type of chart that best represents the data.
  3. Customize the chart as needed (e.g., add titles, labels, legends).
  4. Format the chart as needed (e.g., change colours, fonts, sizes).

Simple Chart Formatting

  • Changing the chart title and axis labels.
  • Adding a legend to explain the colours used.
  • Changing the colours and fonts used.
  • Adding gridlines or other background elements.
  • Adding data labels to show exact values.
  • Changing the chart type (e.g., from column to line).
