Embedded Systems

An embedded system is a combination of hardware and software designed to perform a specific task or set of tasks. These devices have one specific job, are not connected to the internet, and work on their own. Examples include traffic light controllers, microwave ovens, and robotic vacuum cleaners.

IoT (Internet of Things)

IoT is a network of physical devices, vehicles, buildings, and other items embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies to connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the internet. Examples include smart home devices (thermostats, lights, security cameras), wearables (fitness trackers, smartwatches), smart city infrastructure, industrial automation, and healthcare (remote patient monitoring, telemedicine).

Scenarios Where They Are Used

IoT: smart home automation (e.g., automatically turning off lights), wearables that track fitness goals, industrial automation for predictive maintenance, and healthcare devices for remote monitoring.

Embedded systems: consumer electronics (TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners), industrial automation (manufacturing, robotics), medical devices (heart rate monitors, insulin pumps), and automotive systems (anti-lock braking, traction control).
