EXTRACT

Study the extract below based on corruption and Juvenile delinquency in Cameroon and answer the questions from A to D.

Since the 1990s, the government of Cameroon has fully engaged in the struggle to eradicate corruption and other vices that have plagued our society. Despite numerous efforts made and especially in recent years, corruption has reached an unprecedented level and has eaten deep to all fabrics of our private lives and society. Some prominent individuals and NGOs have accused the government of promoting corruption through election rigging.

To add to an already bad and disturbing problem to the government is that of juvenile delinquency widely talked about nowadays. This problem long caught the attention of some parents, teachers, religious groups, government and they have been struggling to stem it. Social scientists have been expressing their concern over the issue given that it is not only limited to school drop-outs, street children, but also school children no matter what type of institution they attend. Its causes, manifestation, effects and remedies are varied though with limited effectiveness of mitigation measures!
