Physics teaching syllabus for the second cycle of secondary general education (cameroon)
This official teaching syllabus is issued by the Ministry of Secondary Education, Republic of Cameroon for the second cycle of secondary general education (lower and upper sixth sciences forms).
The two-year course follows the Competency Based Approach and is organised into six modules plus four options.
Module 1 covers physical quantities, measurements and experimental physics (12 hours).
Module 2 covers kinematics and dynamics (65 hours).
Module 3 covers every day uses of energy (55 hours).
Module 4 covers matter, effects of energy and applications (50 hours).
Module 5 covers field phenomena (90 hours).
Module 6 covers waves around us (80 hours).
The four options (12 hours each) are energy resources and environmental physics, communication, electronics, and medical physics.
The weekly workload consists of 07 periods (05 hours) of teaching and 03 periods (2 hours) of practicals, with an annual workload of 324 periods (270 hours). The subject coefficient at Advanced Level is 05.
The syllabus also details the new series combinations (S1–S4), with the first three bolded subjects in each series being obligatory, plus science laboratories and practical work requirements for schools offering second cycle sciences.
