Cameroon has severally been hailed for holding on to its unity despite its geographical and cultural diversity, hence “Africa in miniature.” According to the President of the Republic, this specificity of Cameroon is thanks to its continuous efforts at making the citizens feel at home wherever they find themselves in the country, a true legacy of our coming together in 1961.
The Preamble of the Constitution states that, the people of Cameroon, proud of our linguistic and cultural diversity, an enriching feature of our national identity… solemnly declare that we constitute one and the same Nation, bound by the same destiny and assert our firm determination to build the Cameroon Fatherland on the bases of the ideals of fraternity, justice, and progress. It equally proclaims that humans without distinction of race, religion, sex or belief have inalienable and sacred rights. In this context the State ensures the protection of minorities, women and encourages and protects the family.
In spite, of recent challenges towards the full realization of National Integration, the Government has remained unrelenting in its efforts.
